Thoughtful Online Psychotherapy for Women’s Wellness

Life’s Complexities, Untangled with Care
Hello and welcome,
I’m Dr. Schnur

Welcome to my online psychotherapy practice, dedicated to supporting women through life’s transitions and complexities. I offer personalized, empathic, solution-focused care to help you manage stress, address health or career concerns, and cultivate self-compassion, all while moving toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Although a specialty of mine is supporting women through breast cancer, I am also committed to helping women who are striving to clarify their goals, honor their values, and improve their emotional well-being. My approach is centered on helping each client move toward greater self-understanding, resilience, and alignment with what matters most to her.

Many of my clients are high-functioning, insightful, motivated women who might describe themselves as “generally ok,” but who are struggling with uncertainty, transitions, or self-doubt. My goal is to empower you to move forward with greater clarity, self-kindness, and a plan for growth.

If that description resonates with you, I’m here to help

When you connect with me for online therapy, you can expect a warm, personalized experience right from the comfort of your home. Each session will be personalized to fit your unique needs and goals, creating a path that resonates with you. Whether you're seeking to manage stress, adjust to life’s twists and turns, or simply looking for more balance, my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where your identity and challenges are respected. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule an initial consultation. I look forward to listening, supporting, and guiding you as we work together to help you thrive.

  • Therapy is all about fit, so I always offer a free, 15-20 minute consultation, where we’ll talk about what you’d like to work on during therapy, my experience and expertise, and logistics like fees and scheduling. If we both agree that I’m the right fit for you, then we can set up a first full-length appointment. Between the consultation and our first session, I’ll email you some paperwork to fill out to help me get to know you, and to give you important details about my practice.

  • In our first appointment, I’ll ask you to give me an overview of your life – the challenges and stuck points you’re facing, your support network, your coping strategies, and your treatment goals and preferences. After that first session, we’ll collaborate on a personalized plan that works for your schedule and lifestyle. Most clients choose to schedule anywhere between 8 and 20 sessions weekly or biweekly. But that schedule doesn’t fit everyone, and that’s absolutely fine. We’ll talk together about what works best for you.

  • My integrative approach to therapy primarily incorporates techniques from Client-Centered Therapy and Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy, also known as CBT), as well as mind-body approaches such as diaphragmatic breathing and hypnosis. During our work together, I’ll celebrate your successes, gently challenge beliefs or strategies that seem to be getting in your way, empower you to make concrete life changes to reduce stress and enhance satisfaction, and provide nonjudgmental support as you adjust to living with physical, emotional, or other life challenges.

Think of me kind of like a psychological professional organizer. Together we’ll review the thoughts, strategies, and support that work for you, and help you move away from the thoughts and strategies that get in your way or that don’t spark joy.

What colleagues have said about me:

  • "If the walls in our office could talk, they would all agree that Julie has an exceptional way with her patients. I have known her for about five years now, since a patient of mine shared how much she adored working with Julie as she navigated breast cancer and its treatment. My practice specializes in oncology rehab and lymphedema, so many of my clients have breast cancer. Repeatedly, over and over, I’ve had patients come in and sigh with relief after meeting Julie for just one session. They tell me she gets them, she knows the drill, and she is familiar with their doctors, and knows the unwanted journey they are on. They report that her expertise and knowledge of their diagnosis allows them to jump right in and get to the root of their issues. I feel confident saying that patients who work with Julie have told me they’re happy to have her on their team. "

Stephanie Kiley, OT, Owner SDK Therapy

  • "Dr. Schnur is a kind, down-to-earth, skillful therapist who combines practical solutions, thoughtful insights, and a gentle sense of humor. I have worked with her for over five years, and refer to her confidently and without hesitation. I know that she values a warm therapeutic alliance above all, and that she holds space for clients to feel seen and accepted for who they are. She is an expert in breast cancer care specifically, and psychotherapy with women more broadly, and I have been impressed by her breadth of knowledge in this space and her commitment to women’s wellness. I feel confident that when I refer clients to her, they’ll be well cared for."

    - Dr. Laracuenta, Clinical Psychologist

  • " Dr. Schnur has been an invaluable resource for my patients and me for over 10 years. Her knowledge, compassion, skills and professionalism combine to provide a vital part of healing for so many women, including those facing the diagnosis, treatment, and then life after cancer. I absolutely love working with Dr. Schnur and so appreciate her expertise - it makes us a better team! "

-Dr. Barbieri, gynecologist, integrative medicine physician, and specialist in menopause

  • "Dr. Schnur is the first person I think of when I need a trusted referral. She embodies the ideal combination of a psychologist with her warmth, sensitivity, and intelligence. Her exceptional clinical skills, sense of humor, good nature, and her rare ability to share insights in a way that is always well received, make her someone I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking expertise and compassionate care."
